‘The object of oratory alone is not truth but persuasion’. The boys at Columbans were able to convincingly persuade and clinch the First Runner’s-up position at the Modern School Debates. Madhav Sachdeva and Vasav Aggarwal of class VIII participated in the Pratap Singh Junior English Debates at Modern School, Barakhamba. Out of the fifteen participating schools, the Columbans impressed the judges with their oratory skills. The topic under discussion was ‘Dependence on Technology makes us lazy’.Madhav (for the motion) shared his thoughts about the conviniences which are a byproduct of the tech age. Vasav highlighted that efficiency of the digital age does not mean laziness. All participating schools like Modern (Vasant Vihar), The Sriram Millennium School, Ahlcon International, Springdales (Pusa) presented their arguments in a competitive manner. Columbans’ held the ground in a steady manner with their confidence, voice modulation and dash of originality.
