Title : STUDENT LEADERSHIP IMMERSION PROGRAMME (2018-19)

VISIT TO THE VILLAGE OF BAHU AKBARPUR IN THE ROHTAK DISTRICT OF HARYANA

 

The program was organised by ERI under the guidance of Br. Ralph and Br. Steve Rocha. Nine  schools and Pratyek NGO participated in this program.

The coordinator of program was Ms. Neha Pradhan Arora. She has worked in the development and education sector for last fifteen years with a focus on making citizenship-through experiences and skill building-an integral part of education .

This four days leadership program was conducted from 29th sept. to 2nd October 2018 in a village called BAHU AKBARPUR, Rohtak. Total 28 students participated in this program.

During the program, various team building exercises were done to stretch their boundaries. They visited village and met with “SARPANCH” and had discussion with him. They knew about ground realities and the problems of village life.

Interacting  with CHETNALAYA and Sr marry ,(Rohtak ) students was a lifetime experience for them.

Morning one hour was dedicated for SHRAMDAN activity , which includes cleaning of building, helping in kitchen, plantation, grass cutting and road making , which gave them dignity of labour.

Kids have learnt two basic words “Sensitivity” and Dislocation, which means stretching from their comfort zone and reaching to the needy people.

On 2nd oct., students had skype call with different countries and discussed SDGs with them. Student of each school has presented their future plan with their respective principal.

Six  students from St. Columba’s participated in this leadership program:

4-Mark Peter 2- Justin James 3-Derick ( From class 11)
