Title : PANCHTATVA MELA (2018-19)

On the thirteenth of October 2018, the school’s Eco Justice “Samvaad” Society organised the Panchtatva Mela. The word 'panchatatva' originates from Sanskrit, where "Panch" stands for five and "tatva" indicates elements. Following the universal law of life, everything on this planet is composed of five basic elements or the "Panchamahabhutas". These are Akash (Sky or Space), Vayu (Air), Jal(Water), Agni (Fire) and Prithvi (Earth). Each of the units of the Mela was related to the Panchtatva:

Earth

We had invited a potter and an earthen sculptor to showcase their craft as well as sell the beautiful sculptures and pottery. It was an eco-friendly initiative to discard  the harmful plastics which constitute our everyday decorations

Fire

Fire is the most pure form of energy, and energy symbolises woman . We supported women empowerment by helping out an elderly lady to become financially independent. Husband of this  lady has been paralysed and she earns her bread by selling her delicious, homemade snacks.

Water and Air

Class 8th students had prepared scientific projects to spread awareness about a healthier society based on SDG11 ( Sustainable cities)  where we  can conserve natural resources .

Class 4th students prepared handmade book mark to promote SDGs.

We are always  inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. This time we have  focussed on ‘SDG 11’.

To spread knowledge about SDGs , we used games like Hoverboards, Spin the wheels and Darting. Students prepared  attractive posters , banners based on SDGs. Upcycled products made from common reusable items were also sold.

This event was a great learning opportunity for the students and visitors.

Special Thanks to Mrs Gupta ( Mother of class 9th student), Mrs S. Handa and Mrs Watson for great support .
