Middle School Events Detail

Title : SPORTS DAY CLASS- VIII, IX & X (2018-19)

Time: 9.30 am - 12 pm

 

Columbix 2018- 19 - Sports Day for Classes 8,9 & 10 held on 20 th November 2018 was a day filled with excitement, fervor, healthy competition along with an underlying message of child rights . At the end of the Sports Meet all the participants dressed in their colorful costumes came onto the field in a synchronized manner, swaying to the song Drum Out Poverty and waving to the audience .

 

The members of the Eco Club distributed pamphlets, displayed colorful banners on Child Rights reiterating once again that in the Middle Section of SCS while the focus remains on excellence in Sport and academics, yet, the heart is in the right place - Child Rights , Nine is Mine and many other social outreach causes and activities are given a platform in the programs of the Middle Section.

 

The Sports Day commenced with a roll of the drumbeat and the sound of a high pitched voice issuing the command as the marching contingents with a synchronized swing of arms and the sound of thudding feet approached the dais to salute the honored Chief guest Father Lawrence .

 

All the esteemed guests Mrs Kaushal , Headmistress of the Junior Section, Mr Chopra , Administrator of the Senior Section , Mrs Iris Fredrick erstwhile Administrator of the Senior Section , Brother Steve Rocha , Brother James , special invitee parents Mrs and Mr Giri , Mrs and Mr Grover, Major General MD Singh along with Mrs Sheel ,Headmistress of the Middle Section released balloons to mark the occasion. Father Lawrence then declared Columbix 2018-19 open .

 

The athletic events were keenly contested in the right spirit of sportsmanship . The drills were innovative, well synchronized and perfectly executed- Class 10’s with their drill Cricket Mania displayed bowling, fielding and batting actions .

Class 8 made waves with their drill Wave Workout. Class 9’s had the audience grooving along with them as they enjoyed their drill song Bhangra Beats.

 

The excitement was palpable as the students waited with bated breath for their teachers to participate in the Teacher’s Relay Race and cheered as their teachers passed the baton from one person to the other .

Though only the first and second prize was declared for the Teacher’s Race, the remaining two teams got chocolates as well - a win win situation all the way!

The parents participated in large numbers in the event Musical Arm for parents .

 

The Tug of War for class 10 turned out to be one of the highlights of the day with the audience cheering for their House or favorite team !

 

Some of the events like Shot Put , Long Jump were held earlier with the prizes being awarded on Sports Day.

 

The wow factor for each member of the audience was definitely the music by a band of very talented young musicians playing from the flute, violin to the drums and guitar during the march past .

 

The results for the Best Athlete , Best Marching Squad and Best House were met with shouts, hugs and high fives by the participants.

It was a fun filled day which was enjoyed by the parents and the students alike .
