Title : KG ORIENTATION ( 2019-20 )

The KG Parent Orientation was held on 22nd March 2019. The Edmund Rice Hall was packed with eager and enthusiastic parents full of aspirations for their young wards. The gathering was addressed by the Principal, Brother Miranda who welcomed the parents to the Columban family. He briefed the parents about our founder, Blessed Edmund Rice and his life, aspirations and teachings.
 
Brother also highlighted the school motto –‘Sapere Aude, Sincere Et Constanter’ which means ‘Dare to know, sincerely and consistently’. He emphasised the ethos and the philosophy of education followed in the school. 
He guided the parents into a session of Heartfulness Meditation and stressed the importance of practicing short sessions of calming meditation with the little ones. 

After this our Headmistress Mrs. Kaushal welcomed and addressed the parents. She explained the functioning of the Junior Wing. The class teachers and subject teachers were introduced. A PowerPoint presentation depicting our philosophy about holistic development, inculcating life skills, social skills, compassion for the poor and community service was presented. The headmistress spoke in detail about the school infrastructure, scholastic and co-scholastic curriculum etc. The parents also got a sneak peek into how the activities in Kindergarten are based on promoting, hands-on learning through simple experiments, language development through speech activities like Show and Tell, art activities, non-fire cooking, storytelling, nature walk and music. She also discussed how the gross and fine motor skills are sharpened through various class activities and physical education activities.

Elaborating the school’s focus on 'Building an inclusive School Community' where the marginalized and radically challenged would feel welcomed and empowered, Mrs Kaushal also spoke about the NGOs being supported by our school.
During the interactive session she discussed how Value Education is integrated in our curriculum and how our Community Outreach Programmes are crucial features of the education imparted in the Junior Wing. Thus, it is our challenge to help each individual discover and grow to his potential. 

Mrs Kaushal also laid down a few expectations from the parents regarding punctuality, medical leave, toilet training, school uniform, healthy eating and discipline, thereby encouraging parents to be active partners with the teachers to nurture their wards. 
  
A short PowerPoint point presentation was shared by the Child Protection Officer, Mrs Pooja Guglani about ensuring the security and safety of our children by providing them appropriate knowledge about Good and Bad touch so as to safeguard themselves and report the same to their parents. 

The KG orientation came to an end with a brief interaction between the class teachers and the parents in their respective classrooms.
