Title : PARENT ORIENTATION CLASS 1 (09-04-2019)

"A parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school and the child is the centre of our universe."

A Parent Orientation Programme forms a stepping stone in cementing the teacher - parent partnerships, enabling them to work together for the child in unison.

An orientation program for the parents of Grade – 1 was organised on 9th April, 2019. The aim was to familiarize the parents as ‘Partners in progress’ with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, the teaching methodologies and co-scholastic activities.

The session began with a welcome note by our honourable principal, Br. Miranda. The morning had a befitting start with a soulful prayer song presentation followed by Heartfulness meditation. Brother invited attention to the importance of meditation in our lives and urged parents to practice the same with their children to bring calm and focus to their lives.

The Headmistress of the Junior Wing, Mrs. Kaushal was invited to address the gathering. She introduced the teachers and special educators to the parents. Mrs. Kaushal presented a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation and had an interesting interactive session with the parents. She laid emphasis on the holistic development of the children and elaborated the philosophy followed in our school.

She detailed out the new changes in the curriculum, scholastic and co-scholastic activities, Formative and Summative Assessments, etc., as the boys transition from Kindergarten to class 1.

The parents were encouraged to build a foundation for their children and inculcate life skills which are crucial for the overall development of the child. Furthermore, parents were briefed about the new activities their children will be a part of in Class 1 like Morning assembly, computers, art, library, music etc.

Mrs Kaushal also highlighted the importance of good parenting and how children learn through example.

There was a short presentation about generating awareness regarding Good and Bad Touch by the PO, Mrs Guglani who highlighted the pressing need of empowering the children to ensure their safety.

The Orientation program ended on a positive note with the aim of nurturing our children into happy, skilful and creatively well adjusted learners to lead happy and fulfilling lives.
