The importance of quiz and it’s advantages in learning has been well recognised since long.
Besides the apparent benefits of expanding a student's knowledge, quiz sessions are interactive platforms for sharpening and excelling in listening skills, critical thinking, comprehension, attentiveness, etc. Quiz activities also provide opportunities to hone the teamwork skills of the participants.
On 21st May, 2019, an Intra Class Quiz competition was organised for the students of Class 2. The quiz had an interesting prelude with a riddle for the parents followed by a short message by a student dressed up as ‘Mr. Question Mark’ which invited attention and applause from one and all. The quiz began with palpable excitement as the rules and regulations were explained in detail. The parents were impressed to witness some very exhilarating moments as the teams from different sections of Class 2 pitted against each other during four interesting question rounds followed by the final visual round.
Each question round ended with two spelling bee questions where the participants exhibited their knowledge of spellings. The edge of the seat excitement was indeed worth it. The students showcased their brilliance by promptly answering the questions.
It was a great opportunity to bring out the best in all students through a competitive event which assured that the learners refined their listening skills and learnt beyond books and class room teaching.
Before the results were announced, there was a Musical Presentation by the Western Music teacher and the Indian Music teacher. They presented a fusion medley which depicted the essence of the West meeting the East. It had the audience swaying to the foot tapping music.
Finally the Headmistress of Junior Wing, Mrs. Kaushal called up on stage, the winners amidst loud cheering and applause from one and all. She delivered a motivational speech for the parents to fuel the never dying spirit of questioning among the children and hone their knowledge in general awareness and current affairs.
