The Best Speakers Debates of 2019 kicked off with quite some suspense on the 24th of September. Both the sides, consisting of the best speakers from each section of classes 11 and 12, were formidable contestants who kept the audience glued to their seats. The topic for the day “India Rising is a Mere Fallacy” was so stimulating that one could feel the fine layer of tension which had descended upon the house. This general perturbation persisted throughout the event, as each side exchanged words as heavy as blows.
The side for the motion consisted of the speakers from class 11, while the side against the motion consisted of the students of class 12. The verbal battle that impelled between them brought to the table several views on an otherwise highly homogeneous topic. Both the teams put forward some very convincing arguments, so much so that one couldn’t decide which side to take. The judges, however, with their vast expertise in the field of debating, pulled out a winner from a crowd of equally deserving people. The students of class 12 emerged victorious with Raghav Nayyar as the best speaker and Aryan Sirsikar as the second-best speaker. Karan Kapoor won the best interjector award from the audience. The students of class 11 put up quite a fight and therefore won the judges’ acknowledgement. The grand event came to a close with the congregation singing the school anthem. The event was a truly momentous occasion that would stay etched in the memories of all who attended it for a long time.
