Title : ART EXHIBITION - JUNIOR SCHOOL (2019-20)

“Through a painting we can see the whole world.”

-Hans Hofmann

The much sought after, Junior School Art Exhibition was staged on the 11th and 12th of October in the Junior School Sports Arena. The venue came alive with a splash of colours. The exhibition was inaugurated by our honourable Principal, Br. Miranda and the Junior School Headmistress, Mrs. Ritu Kaushal. The work of our budding artists was on display in its full splendour as the exhibits unveiled various art forms and skills like Origami, drawing and painting. The imagination and creativity of young Columbans were in bloom with the display of an array of thematic art works, craft models and collaborative projects using different techniques and media to experience and experiment with colours. The well trained ushers skilfully explained the tedious but engaging process and efforts that went into preparing the art displays. The newly developed ‘Green Patch’ marked our commitment to planet Earth. As many as 28 saplings were planted by the the parents on PTM day with the students.

The corner titled -‘Art in Frames’, showcased the drawings and paintings of our creative boys of class 1.

Class 2 students used the technique of printing patterns with leaves, bubble wrap sheets, etc., to create art murals. The ‘Selfie Wall’ created by the students of class 3 was a huge attraction among the students and parents alike. The eye catching ‘Paper Weaving Art’ by the Art Club boys was appreciated by all. Beautiful pots, hand-painted by the boys of class 3 adorned the steps of the tennis court area.

Talented craftsmen namely a Kite maker, a Caricaturist, a Balloon twister Artist and a Potter were invited. They engaged our students in fun learning experiences in the day long session.

In the pursuit of inviting parent participation, a Rangoli Competition was organised in the Assembly Area where the students with their respective parents displayed their artistic skills. The prizes were awarded to the winners by Mrs Kaushal amidst much fanfare. There were also live colouring, painting, craft and origami work stations which drew participation from both parents and students.

The artistic and creative display of talent over these two days was much appreciated by one and all.
