At St. Columba’s, we follow a stringent child protection policy to safeguard and protect all the students entrusted in our care.
On the19th of November, 2019, a workshop on Body Safety and Child Empowerment was organised for the students of Class 3 in the Junior Wing. The workshop was conducted in association with the 'Our Voix Foundation'. The Founder, Our Voix, Megha Bhatia, winner of the National Youth Icon Award-2019, spoke about the pressing need of creating awareness among children and empowering them to find a voice. It was a highly interactive session where students enjoyed learning about crucial aspects of protecting their own body, the concept of private parts and voicing against any kind of inappropriate touch or abuse. Through poems, jingles and stories, the boys learnt about Safe and Unsafe Touches. Using contextual role play situations, they were encouraged to recognise and express their feelings. The students participated with keen interest, posing many questions and queries. The enthusiasm by the whole Our Voix Team had the boys all ears through engagement in games, role plays and other activities. It was a memorable session to shun inhibitions and provide a platform for students to derive essential learnings.
