On the 6th of December, 2019, ‘Euphoria Learning’ invited the pre-primary teachers and educators from different schools of Delhi and NCR for an interactive and engaging session on ’Phonics made easy!’. Mrs Rashmi A Sehgal and Mrs Rita Cherobian from the Junior Wing participated in the workshop.


The day began with an inauguration and exhibition of a learning kit designed to empower students and teachers with 21st Century Skills namely creativity, collaboration, thinking and communication.


The resource person, Ms Anupama Bakshi, a renowned linguist discussed the four skills of language learning – Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing- that allows a child to comprehend and use the language for interpersonal communication.


She suggested a grading approach to learning phonetic concepts such as functional English, sound, CVC words, blends, digraphs, phonemic families, etc.


Ms Bakshi also spoke about the importance of sight words in learning the language. She encouraged the teachers to map the progress of their students carefully and use revision and practice of phonics to promote language competency.


The second session of the workshop was conducted by Ms Simi Srivastava, master-story teller and Founder- Director of Kathashala. She laid much emphasis on the use of creative music, movement, mime, etc. to narrate stories effectively. She brought stories to life through her captivating use of voice intonations and modulations. The participants drew much inspiration from her story telling skills. Our teachers had a memorable experience attending this innovative workshop.
