On the 18th of January, 2019,  CBSE organized Capacity Building Programme on Stress Management in Red Roses School, Saket. Mrs.Monica Gautam from the Junior Wing attended the same.
According to American Psychological Association stress is a part of our lives and there’s no getting around it. While it may seem like there’s nothing one can do about stress at work and home, there are steps one can take to relieve the pressure and regain control. If you’re living with high levels of stress, you’re putting your entire well-being at risk. These were the starting words from Dr. Neha Nakra, a RCI registered Psychologist and certified Psychometrician and Special Educator leading the discussion.
She elaborated how stress wreaks havoc on ones’s emotional equilibrium, as well as physical health. It narrows the ability to think clearly, function effectively, and enjoy life. There were interactive discussions that it may seem like there’s nothing one can do about stress as there will never be more hours in the day, work and family responsibilities will always be demanding. The resource person however highlighted that one can have a lot more control than one might think over these circumstances. While citing the difference between eustress and distress, she addressed various myths attracted to stress.

Dr. Neha further emphasized how effective stress management helps the teachers to break the hold stress has on their lives thereby aiding them to make their day happier, healthier, and more productive. The ultimate goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun and the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on.

Dr. Neha further discussed stress management techniques to deal more effectively with stress by analysing the specific stressors and taking positive actions to minimize their effects. She suggested effective time management, improving relationships, developing a positive self attitude, investing in relationships and friendships and practicing gratitude as few healthy tips for minimizing stress.
