Title : EDUCATIONAL TRIPS KG TO CLASS 3 (2019-2020)

In an attempt to foster the seed of curiosity and imagination, we at the Junior School plan Educational Visits for our enthusiastic students across KG to Class 3.

This year, in the month of February we had four different Educational Trips. While the trips were differentiated by the places visited, they had the common DNA of seeding innovation, expanding imagination, fostering creativity and providing opportunities for experiential learning.

National Rail Museum, National Bal Bhavan, Qutub Minar and Aeroplanet were the destinations for the respective Educational trips of Classes KG, 1, 2 and 3.

The kindergarteners were all excited to visit the National Rail Museum. There was much to learn and explore. The adventure began with a joyride in a ‘Toy Train’ giving a glimpse of the rich Indian Railways’ historic heritage in the company of rare steam, diesel and electric locos, royal saloons, etc.

After the joy ride the children explored the exhibits on the history of rail transport in India. The students were in awe when they saw the spectacular display of ‘Miniature India’. This included old and new townships with various modes of transport. After this enjoyable and fruitful experience, the children had built up adequate appetites for the yummy treats they had carried from home.

Needless to say the boys came back enriched with great memories. It was a wonderful opportunity for all the children to strengthen their bonds. The visit to the museum also motivated the students to take care of their heritage and maintain cleanliness around them.

The educational trip for Class 1 boys was equally exciting. National Bal Bhavan, an institution which aims at enhancing the creative potential of children took the breath of our little boys away several times. The young lads first enjoyed a 10 minute ‘Toy Train’ ride, taking a tour of the Bal Bhawan, followed by the meal time in the open ground. After a short play, they channelized their discovery traits by visiting the Jawahar Fish Aquarium and Museum. The teachers also took them for a village walk and bird watching at the mini zoo. After this serene experience, they enjoyed rides and swings at the children’s park.

It was a great educational experience. Not only did the students have fun visiting the various interesting sections of Bal Bhavan but the fact that they shared a common public transport, looked after each other’s belongings, played with common toys and shared a happy meal made it all the more enriching and full of memories to look back upon.

In parallel, an educational trip to Qutub Minar was organized for the Class 2 students. It was a day without books yet a day full of learning experience and fun. The students were amazed to see the captivating monument, standing tall amidst lush green gardens. The historical past and the effort undertaken to build Qutub Minar
caught the imagination of the children. Qutub Minar, the highest minaret in India with the height of 72.5 meters was a sight to experience.

Apart from the explanation about the majestic tower, the resource guide also showed other Indo-Islamic architectural structures in the complex like the Iron Pillar, mosques, madrasas and temples. Sharing knowledge about the history of the site made the visit all the more interesting for the young learners. The students were inquisitive and asked many questions which were well explained by the guide. The boys indeed had a memorable day full of fun and learning.

For the Class 3 boys, there were many activities organized by the ‘Aeroplanet’ staff which was the destination of the their Educational trip. The lively atmosphere made the students enjoy these activities which included the Zipline, Burma bridge, Magic show, commando net, tunnel crossing and so on. The students were made familiar with the safety procedures one should follow at the time of an emergency like a fire, turbulence or any other mishappening during a flight. The students also got the opportunity to sit in the cockpit and have a sneak peak into the challenges faced by pilots while flying an aeroplane.

Students learned how an aircraft functions and the technologies involved in its operation. It was an educational and enjoyable experience for all the students.
