“Spelling is imperative as it aids in reading and writing. It helps cement the connection shared between sounds and letters.”
An inter-class Spellathon was conducted online on 6th Feb 2021. The students participated with great enthusiasm as they duelled through the tenacious words. This competition helped students improve their spellings, increase their vocabulary, learn concepts, and make correct use of unfamiliar words in speaking and writing.
The competition had two rounds – the first round in which all students from grade 4 to 10 participated on 29th June 2020. The list of words given to the students was prepared meticulously by the subject teachers from their coursebook to enhance comprehension skills and usage. The eligible participants proceeded to the final round. Its criterion was 35% of the list provided earlier; the remaining 65% of the words were age-appropriate. Both the exams were conducted online on Google forms. The exams comprised audios, multiple-choice questions, fill in the blanks and jumbled words.
The students participated diligently on 6th February 2021. The following winners were rewarded with e-certificates for their efforts and initiative:
