The Parent Orientations for the new Academic Session 2021-22, were held on 12th, 15th and 22nd April for Classes 1, 3 and 2 respectively.
Our Honourable Principal Brother Miranda initiated the sesion by elaborating the purpose of Parent Orientations following which he introduced the staff members who will be teaching different subjects for the respective classes. He emphasised on the importance of spirituality and faith after which the song “The Gift You Are” was played. A very interesting video was also played on time management called “Big Rocks”. This surely set in a very positive beginning to the orientation session.
The respective coordinators, Mrs. Vandana Mehrotra for class 1 and Ms. Vandana Sharma for classes 2 and 3 spoke about core competencies and activities for each subject including English-Reading, English-Writing, English-Communication, Mathematics, Social Skills and EVS (for classes 2 and 3). They elaborated that the various core competencies in different subjects form the building blocks of the curriculum. They also explained the assessment process where students will be encouraged to read and recite poems, exercise, practice social skills and imbibe values.
The respective coordinators also spoke about the intra-school events and activities, giving special emphasis on the importance of participation in inter and intra school events. They showcased how our students of classes 1-3 exhibited immense potential and skill in various intra and inter-school events, class activities and Elocution intra-class activities. The students’ participation in online assemblies as well as in various other activities including Graduation Ceremony (Class 3), Storytelling Competition, Folk Tale Narration, Spellathon, Virtual Science Exhibitions, Puppet Show, Art Competition, Quiz Competition And Sports Day, etc. were depicted.
Our respected Junior School Headmistress, Mrs. Kaushal then took centerstage and shared the parent feedback in detail through pie diagrams and flowcharts about how the online classes have benefitted the students.
Mrs. Kaushal explained in detail about the Assessment Plan, FAs and Half Yearly Assessments. She gave a sneak peek into the much-awaited forthcoming events like Symphony, Earth Day, Labour Day, Founder’s Day, HANP, art integration activities along with other activities like recitation, debate events in Elocution classes, Sports and PT activities. She explained that in the Art classes, the students will be performing many activities including craft, colour mixing, creating patterns along with expansion of knowledge of different mediums. She also added that in the Computer class, students will learn typing, how to create posters and cards and play online quizzes.
Mrs. Kaushal discussed parents’ feedback including teachers’ expectations from the students and parents.
Followed by this, the four counsellors Ms. Nandita Kalra (Counsellor, Junior Wing), Mrs. Sangeeta Tripathi & Mrs. Arti Bardhan (Middle Wing) and Mr. Sumit Yadav (Senior Wing) presented a PPT on Cyber security and Cyber safety where they discussed nettiquettes, cyber bullying, cyber stalking, cyber laws and CRC.
Finally, our respected Principal, Brother Miranda concluded the session by addressing the queries of the parents. As the orientation came to an end our school anthem was played where everyone joined with honour and glory.
