Title : READING ACTIVITY - NATIONAL READING DAY ( 2021-22 )

"Books are the quietest and most constant of friends, they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors and the most patient of teachers.”
– Charles W. Eliot

Books are uniquely portable magic. They have the ability to entertain us and allow us to travel to different places through our imaginary senses.

To bring our students closer to this magic, a 'Reading Activity' was conducted online on 21st June 2021 to mark the 26th National Reading Day which is celebrated all over our country on 19th June every year. From the tiny tots of Kindergarten to the Class 3 boys of Junior Wing- all students had an opportunity to read their favourite story books.

A period was devoted with these colourful books where boys of all the classes enthusiastically spent their time reading and discussing their stories.
The Kindergarteners were excited to get into the world of their favourite stories of Peppa Pig, Winnie the Pooh, Dinosaur stories and much more. They enjoyed picture reading of their favourite story book during the class.

The students of Class 1 and 2 were engrossed in the world of fairy tales, folktales, moral stories, etc., as they took a trip into the world of imagination.
Whether it was Geronimo Stilton or characters from the Books of Enid Blyton or Roald Dahl, our students of Class 3 surely had a memorable time enjoying a session of silent reading followed by discussions about the books. Some students were interviewed by the teachers where they were asked to share their views on the importance of reading.

Paying a tribute to the father of the 'Library Movement in Kerala', the late P.N. Panicker, the teachers too picked up a book and set a great example for the students to practice and enjoy reading. This activity further highlighted the importance of inculcating reading among our young students and definitely came as a good reminder for all of us embrace books as our best friends.
