‘Mind-o-pedia’ was the brain child of all Class 1 educators to showcase what the young Columbans have achieved so far. Under the able guidance of Mrs Kaushal, our proactive Headmistress and Mrs Vandana Mehrotra, the Class 1 Coordinator, the teachers brainstormed and came up with an Online Quiz for the boys of Class
1.
The quiz comprised of five rounds: Audio-Visual, Picture Composition, Physical Fitness, Read the Word, Make a Sentence and Guess the Tag line. Each section was divided into 5 groups of 10 boys for each round. Different rounds of the quiz were conducted over a span of three days, from 8th -10th September, 2021.
The esteemed jury comprised of Ms Vandana Sharma, Coordinator (classes 2 and 3), Mrs Mini Kandhari (Librarian), Mrs Latika Bhasin (Computer teacher).
For the final round, our respected Principal, Brother Miranda, and Headmistress, Middle School, Mrs Aparajita Sharma Pal graced the event as Chief Guests.
The final event began with a melodious song – “We are smart Columbans”, followed by an introductory speech. The students enthusiastically participated and showcased their brilliance by rapidly answering the questions in each round, be it, Audio-visual or Guess the tag line. The questions put forth to the teams were captivating, thought provoking and interesting. Though some of the questions were very tricky, the students tried their best to answer them with confidence. They found this competition very informative and knowledge enriching. In round 2 and round 4, the young lads made meaningful and grammatically correct sentences by looking at the picture and reading the word aloud. To keep our judges and guests entertained throughout the show, exciting riddles were posed which indeed made the audience think. The rounds ended with a soulful song “I won’t give up!”.
The competition was very tough, but in the end the most exciting and thrilling battle was won by Class 1E. The second position was achieved by class 1B followed by Class 1D.
Brother Miranda in his concluding address stressed upon quiz as a wonderful way of learning and appreciated the fact that all boys spoke with such clarity and fluency. Mrs Ritu Kaushal, thanked all the teachers and parents for their partnership and rigorous practice sessions even at odd hours in the evening. She remarked that quiz not only improves listening and observation skills but also stimulates the students’ mind to explore new subject matter. She also acknowledged that the students conducted the quiz themselves which was commendable.
Finally, Mrs Mamta Sharma, a parent from Class 1B applauded the teamwork and the courage of the teachers to plan and execute an event like this.
Mind-o-pedia was indeed a huge success and surely a great learning experience for our students of Class 1.
