Title : ANNUAL SPORTS DAY (2017-18)

"Winners never quit!
Quitters never win!"
- Vince Lombardi

Sports education forms a vital and integral part of the curriculum at St. Columba's.
Playing sports not only leads to balanced mental and physical growth but also teaches the children, life skills like teamwork, leadership and patience.
All this and much more was on display at the Annual Sports Day of the Junior School held on 9th Dec 2017 in the School Grounds.
The programme had a joyful start with a welcome dance by class 3 boys followed by the releasing of green and gold balloons by the chief guest, Major General A Channan and his wife, Mrs. Nitu Channan. The balloons symbolised the spirit of St. Columba's soaring up high in the bright blue sky.
The melodious performance by the Army Band of the Assam Regiment left everyone spell bound.
Discipline, determination and mental alertness came into play as the young Columbans participated in various races putting in all their might to reach the finishing line.
The young boys of class KG and class 1 swayed and moved in synchrony to the beat of foot tapping song medleys.
The class 2 boys dressed up in bright kimonos with multicoloured fans in their hands, performed the drill to perfection.
This was followed by a well-coordinated drill display with dumbbells by the boys of class 3 to the beat of drums.
True sportsmanship was on display as the boys took both victory and defeat in their stride with grace.
The day culminated with an uplifting message by our honourable Principal, Br. Miranda who emphasised on the significance of sports, discipline, perseverance and learning from failure. He added wishes for the coming festive season and urged all to welcome the divine in our hearts.
