A VISIT BY UNDERPRIVILEGED STUDENTS UNDER NGO NAMED PRATYEK TO THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE LAB OF ST COLUMBA'S SCHOOL (2017-18)
On DEPRIVED CHILDREN'S DAY, as organised by St. COLUMBA'S SCHOOL, a group of 18 underprivileged students supported by NGO named PRATYEK visited the English language lab on 14'th OCTOBER 2017. The group accompanied by their teacher settled in the lab and the class started off with introductions all around. The first thing I noticed was student's enthusiasm to learn and speak about them. They were all from disadvantage section of the society,but that was not evident from their smiling faces and general behaviour.
After a round of self-explanations, the concept of Mind Mapping was introduced with related activities taken up through hand-out, audio-video & oral explanations with the aim to understand their perceptions and be able to express them effectively.
This session, under a time frame of 40 minutes, was a satisfactory and fulfilling experience for both the educator and participating students of different age groups.
The students dispersed with an ecstatic expression for the time spent, which made the educator feel contended and satisfied.
