As the environment plays a major and important role in our lives, the outreach topic chosen for Class 2 children was Environment Conservation and Preservation.
The children were introduced to the "Outreach Programme" by their respective teachers and were sensitised to make a conscious effort in saving our Ecosystem. Through class discussions, brainstorming sessions and various other activities, the students were made aware of how human beings are causing harm to the environment which is ultimately disturbing the equilibrium of nature. They were motivated by the teachers to stop adding pollution or waste to the environment and to value our natural resources by using them wisely.
The NGO - SAFE (SOCIAL ACTION FOR FOREST & ENVIRONMENT) was invited for a talk to the Junior School. This NGO has been actively working in reducing industrial pollution, controlling water wastage and creating awareness among school children about saving the environment.
On 7th September 2017, "SAFE" in collaboration with "CUMMINS" organized a short documentary on "Water & Energy Conservation", "Wet Waste|Dry Waste", "Factory Pollution", "Making Use of Public Transport".
The documentary was much appreciated by the children of Class 2. The interesting character "Greeno" kept them entertained with his fun filled acts and simultaneously delivered an important message about the environment. An interactive session followed, which invited some great responses about innovative solutions in preserving nature. The "SAFE" representatives organized an enriching activity on "Best out of Waste". The activity conducted by Mr. Satish, the resource person from SAFE, surely brought out the artist in the students and they were amazed by the fact that something so creative and beautiful can be made with dry leaves.

2C-'NEST' making activity.
2D and 2E Recycle- Reduce-Re-use---Best out of WASTE activity.
OUTREACH CLASS ASSEMBLY
The Outreach Programme had a befitting end with a well presented assembly where the students of class 2 made an earnest appeal to fellow Columbans to join their hands to protect the environment. The "Best out of Waste Articles" made in class were on display in the assembly area.
The engaging and well coordinated skits with slogans urged all to do their bit. The young Columbans pledged to be the defenders of the Earth and make a difference with their small yet honest efforts.
