Title : MIDDLE AWARD CEREMONY (2016-2017)

Venue : Edmund Rice Hall

 

The theme for the Middle Section Awards 2016-17 was STAR SEEKERS.The awardees and students of Grade 10 who were a part of the audience were encouraged to have a sense of purpose to be a part of something bigger than themselves.

 

In his address the Principal Brother Miranda urged each Columban to strive for excellence , saying that mediocrity should be unacceptable to the lads. He mentioned a group of ex Columbans from the 1967 batch with whom he had interacted with recently, though they were successful businessmen they live the school motto Dare to be Wise - they work to educate thousands of underprivileged children, especially girls, from rural India. He wanted the boys to dream big for themselves and the world to discover and reach their potential .

 

The melodious singing of the Edmund Rice hymn by the Middle Section choir set the mood for the Awards ceremony . The dancers from Class 9 and 10 had the audience tapping their feet along with them as the choir sang the song Reach For The Stars.

 

The awardees were felicitated in the presence of their parents and patrons. This year there were 74 students who received the Vedanta Mehra Memorial Award for excellence in all five subjects and 44 students received the Mrs. Thomas Award for getting A1 in Science. 7 students were champs and received the H.B. Dingley Award for first position in CBSE and the Rawal Singh Rajinder Kaur Charitable Trust Scholarship for getting A1 in all five subjects . We have bettered our result this year ! Congratulations winners.

The H. S. Sethi Award for Social Service encourages our boys to live in the Edmund Rice ethos and this year the award was won by 2 students. We hope to see many more recipients of this award in future!

 

The two prestigious awards- The Ramansubramanyam Award for All Round Excellence and The Columban of the Year which is given to that Columban who truly embodies the spirit of SCC were won by Pranjal Preet Alishan and Vishawam Datta respectively.

 

Mrs Sangeeta Sheel , Headmistress Middle Section in her vote of thanks urged the Columbans to leave a trail of stardust in their wake in their quest to be Star Seekers.

 

Brother Miranda challenged the students of Grade 10 to rise to the challenge and encouraged more lads to win laurels not just for themselves but for their alma mater. He promised to support each child of Grade 10 to work to his potential by announcing the Last Mile Program to support our boys to excel in the forthcoming CBSE examinations in March 2018.
