Class 8 and 10 students of Middle School participated in the NDMC Science Fair 2017-18 at
N P CoEd Primary School, Lodhi Road. Working models and exhibits on various themes were displayed.
St. Columbas project won in the category of best three entries in the public school category. The project Arduino Smart Home by Abhilash Jena and Srikant Tangirala of class 10 won in this category.
The science fair was from 19/12/17 to 22/12/17
The themes included Transport and communication, Waste management, Water Body Conservation, Resource management and food security, Health and well being and Digital Technology.
The participants were
1) Manan Chichra , Yash Sahoo class 8A
Their project was a working model of an agricultural drone. It displayed how drone technology can be used for crop monitoring, finding the extent of damage in the crops, bug mapping crop and livestock inventory management with the help of an IR camera.
2) Abhilash Jena and Srikant Tangirala class 10 C
The boys made an Arduino Smart Home in which appliances are controlled by voice commands given in a simple android application. This smart home model, when implemented, will be especially useful for the physically disabled.
