Title : ASSEMBLY CLASS 2A ( 2022-23 )

Of all the waste we generate, plastic bags are perhaps the greatest symbol of our throwaway society. They are used, then forgotten, and they leave a terrible legacy.” – Zac Goldsmith

On the bright morning of 8th August 2022, the children of Class 2A staged a very educative and informative assembly about saving the Earth by stopping the use of plastic. They shared the story about how plastic came into existence and how people started misusing plastic thus causing plastic pollution.

The children brought forth the message by explaining the difference between biodegradable and non-biodegradable in a small play. They beautifully enacted their parts and recited an action poem titled - 'Say No to Plastic', stating the reasons why plastic is so harmful. This was followed by a meaningful song -‘Tic -Tic plastic, do not use plastic’.

The highlight of the assembly was an innovative fashion show where our boys showcased beautiful, creative, and innovative bags made using recycled things. This display promoted the benefits of the 3Rs-Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

The students also learnt that our school, St. Columba’s is also partnering the cause of ‘NO SINGLE USE PLASTIC’ and thus our campus has now been made a plastic free zone. Students showed alternatives to using basic plastic things for children like water bottles, tiffin boxes, pencil boxes, rulers, folders, plastic bags etc.

The message of the assembly was to make children aware not to use plastic and save the Earth from plastic pollution.

The children also took a pledge to contribute in creating a new, clean, healthy, and plastic free India.

Our respected Principal, Brother Robert addressed the children and stated the importance of not using plastic and that each one of us should take a leap forward for the cause.

The Headmistress of the Junior School, Mrs Kaushal praised the boys and the class teacher Mrs Rupa Dey for the excellent and well-coordinated assembly. She highlighted the fact that each one of us should make a conscious effort to stop using plasticand make this planet a safe place for the future generations.
