Title : BHASHAN SANGAM CLASS 1 ( 2022-23 )

India is known for its rich cultural heritage and linguistic diversity.
‘Bhasha Sangam’ is an initiative of the Ministry of Education under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, to provide multilingual exposure to students in Indian languages.

This programme aims to introduce school students to all the 22 Indian Languages of Schedule VIII of the Constitution of India in order to enhance linguistic tolerance and respect, and promote national integration.
The aim of this programme is that children should acquire basic conversational skills in an Indian language other than their mother tongue. This initiative is just the beginning of a journey meant to create interest and curiosity in different Indian languages.

We at St. Columba’s work hard to inculcate and instil love towards multilingual tolerance and appreciation. As a part of the Bhasha Sangam Programme, the boys in Junior School enthusiastically prepared and presented short self introductions in the Bengali language on 24th August 2022. As a part of this activity they had fun watching a short ppt on West Bengal's rich culture and heritage. The students were excited to sing and enjoyed listening to Rabindra Sangeet and the Bengali Alphabet Song. This activity was integrated with SDG 4 AND SDG 16.

Bhasha Sangam marks the unique symphony of languages of our country and is an expression of our shared dreams, hopes and aspirations for united India.
Encouraging our students to take pride in the rich cultural and multilingual heritage of our country is our prime focus. Such activities will further promote students to embrace different Indian languages and generate interest among them to learn about various states and their culture.
