Title : MOCK EVACUATION DRILL AS A PART OF DISASTER MANAGEMENT (2018-19)

At St. Columba’s, the safety and well being of our students is a prime concern. In line with the uncertainties that the future beholds, the onus is on the school, staff and students to do their best to mitigate the damaging effects of any natural disaster. In the Junior School we follow a methodical Disaster Management Plan to safeguard the lives of our students from unforeseen natural and man-made crisis.

As a part of this plan a Mock Evacuation Drill was conducted in the school premises on March 27th, 2018. The Head Mistress, Mrs R. Kaushal rang a long Siren following which the teachers initiated the evacuation of boys from their respective classes. Students were explained about the movement for evacuation as a part of their disaster management preparedness. The teachers ensured that the evacuation was orderly and brisk. Guided by the display arrow signs all classes assembled in the open field. Class XII students from the senior school came to assist the KG boys. The student representatives stood with their placards directing their peers during this activity. The entire evacuation was completed in 3 minutes without any chaos or confusion.

The smooth operation and success of the Disaster Drill was yet another attempt in our commitment and dedication in providing safety to our students.
